The badass truck transformation of a US Veteran

The badass truck transformation of a US Veteran - Bumperonly.com

We’re lucky to be living in the land of freedom, the kind of freedom that allows us to work on turning the truck of our dreams into a reality. US Veteran Kelly Fromm knows that well, having dedicated much of his time to building some impressive military-themed cars and trucks.

Once he retired, he decided to use his talents to give back to fellow military veterans. That’s when he came up with the Rev-It-Up for Wounded Warriors Memorial Tour - a tribute to everyone who served in the armed forces, meant to bring in awareness, support, and also money for veterans and families. To get around the country attending the events, Kelly used two trucks that he named ‘Fallen Warrior’ and the ‘Freedom Fighter’, but despite doing a great job for a long time, he knew it was time for a change.

That’s when he challenged himself to turn a four-wheel-drive ’15 GMC Sierra Denali 3500HD into another amazing tribute to the troops. Powered by a 6.6L Duramax V-8, this beast was soon named High Honor. Different from his previous transformations, Kelly aspired to make this one more personal, and, as such, he asked his social media followers to help him out choosing components and giving him feedback as he progressed with the updates.

First of all, it wouldn’t be military-themed enough if it didn’t have a cool camo on the outside. But it wasn’t just any old camo design, Kelly opted to wrap his truck with a 3M 1080 digital camo with UV graphics. Yup, meaning that he could further honor the troops whenever the light hits the truck in the right way. Up next, the grille at the front got replaced with a Denali chrome unit that could host some bright OLB LED lightbars.

For extra protection, Kelly opted for a super-strong heavy-duty Iron Cross Bumper. While to ensure that he could get across anything and as far as he wanted, he added Bushwacker pocket-style fender flares for further tire coverage for his 35x12.50R22 Toyo M/T tires on 22-inch Fuel Full Blown wheels.

To ensure that clearance was just as good, he installed a BDS 6.5-inch High Clearance System with Fox 2.0 shocks at the corners. Everything was adorned with surveillance cameras so that nothing goes amiss and he can confidently tour the country with his GMC.

The bed of the truck also offers everything he could ever need, with Diamond Performance stacks, a TransferFlow fuel tank, CargoGlide bed slide 1500, and a Truck Covers USA bedcover. The back is also rigorously protected by Iron Cross and ready for the night with some powerful LEDs.

If you have a look under the hood, you’ll find that the original engine has been upgraded to produce an impressive 575 hp and 950 lb-ft of torque. Including an AFE Power cold-air intake, a Banks Power straight-shot water-methanol injection kit, and a Banks iQ 2.0 controller to add power and make the driving experience all the way more pleasant.

The result is a badass truck with a great message and story behind it, which would make any veteran proud.

Out of everything Kelly worked on upgrading, he made sure to not forget about a good pair of front and Rear Bumpers. Make sure you do the same to guarantee yourself and your vehicle a good level of safety. We’ve compiled the Ultimate Bumper Guide to help you decide the perfect option for your truck.
